I discovered my passion for wood turning in 2015 when my lovely wife Sue purchased a lesson for my 50th birthday present.
From that moment on I have been hooked!
I love working with wood and the never ending thrill of revealing what lies beneath the surface of whatever wood type I am turning, exposing the grain and creating beautiful objects.
After much badgering from my 2 children - Sophie & Katie, I have now set up aboutthegrain.com to share my journey and sell items that are either a bi-product of my hobby or commissioned pieces.
All of my items are never rushed when being produced, with great care taken in not only how they are turned, but also, how they are finished.
The wood I use is either locally sourced in Cornwall or from sustainable suppliers and the parts used in the making of any items are of high quality.
